About Me
My name is Keoni Tabor. I began teaching piano soon after graduating high school in 2023, after spending periods learning piano both on my own, and periods learning with a teacher since elementary school. Now, I have been playing for over 10 years! I'm am currently studying music at De Anza, but at this point I have fulfilled all my requirements for my associates in Music, and am just waiting for official documentation. The next step will be transferring to the music education program at San Jose State University in the fall of 2027.
I began piano in the fifth grade alongside a handful of other students in a program led by one of the teachers at my middle school. I continued in the program until its end, then switched to taking lessons privately with that teacher for another year or so. Though I eventually stopped taking private lessons, I continued learning on my own, studying music theory and continuing to practice as a hobby.
In high school, I took two years of piano in my freshman and junior year, and one year of Music for the International Baccalaureate Program in my senior year. This allowed me to further develop my music theory knowledge, practice composition, and dedicate more time and energy overall to Piano. During my high school years, I also expanded my horizons, playing trombone in the band at school, and spending 3 years playing piano at church.
As a college student, I have been a regular member of the orchestra and jazz band at De Anza. Outside of performing, I am also a teachers assistant at The Music School in Sunnyvale. In college, I was also diagnosed with ADHD. Learning to overcome its challenged and utilize its strengths has been quite the journey, and is still ongoing. Learning more about the condition has given me an entirely new perspective on life, and has foundationally changed my approach to both teaching and learning.
In my free time you can find me making fragrances, hiking, coding, maintaining my shrimp tank, walking my chocolate lab, watering my plants, and sporadically nerding out about whatever has my interest at the moment! My most prominent hobby is music. I like to play piano, but also produce music digitally, learn new insruments, and compose!
